Self Awareness : Stop Behaving Automatically

Posted by Self Improvement Specialist on May 6th, 2010 filed in Self Improvement

Oh, so many people are wasting time and energy wishing, hoping or wanting for something different or great to happen in their lives. Well, if you’re like that, here’s a suggestion: pull yourself together and create the life that you really, really want – right here, right now.

You see, years of research prove that your subconscious mind creates your daily reality. Of course, you’ve no idea that that’s what’s happening – it’s subconscious! But, just because you’re not aware of it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference! The programs that are stored in your subconscious mind from childhood are constantly running. And you programs to enable you behave appropriately in every situation in your adult life. But anyone who regularly reads my Ezine will know that the “appropriate behaviour” of so-called “normal people” is anything but appropriate.

So, that’s the first thing you need to address in creating the life that you really, really want. Your “personal development” depends up it. You’re going to have to stop reacting to everything that’s going or around you. If you stop to think about this for a moment, you’ll find that you’re forever in reactive mode – doing everything automatically, without stopping to think. From the everyday, like brushing your teeth or driving your car; to the more serious stuff, like shouting at your nearest and dearest or going through the motions at work.

Once you become familiar with something, you start doing it habitually. Those habits ensure that you live your “normal” life “normally” – like a robot. Until you stop doing things habitually, your automatic behaviour will continue to create a “normal” life for you – one that’s “not too bad”, one where you have to work hard (instead of effortlessly succeeding), one where you pay for your success with compromises in other parts of your life. That, of course, assumes that you’re experiencing what passes for “normal” success as things stand.

Let’s be clear about this. Everyone’s life – mine and yours – is created by what’s going on deep down in your head. Change that and everything changes. You might call it “the Law of Attraction”, others will call it “being focused”, others still will explain it in terms of how the universe gives you what you want by way of “energy in – energy out”! Of course, if you’re doing things automatically, you’re putting almost no energy in – how would you expect to get a great life in return?

Get over yourself! Do some little thing that you do the same way everyday differently – starting right now. In all my years working with my clients, I’ve come to the conclusion that “breaking little habits” is one of the best ways to break the biggest, “baddest” habit that we have – reacting automatically and, as a result, unwittingly creating a shadow of the life that you and I are meant to enjoy.
