A positive outlook is crucial for your success and happiness. Never forget that.

Ever seen how frustrated and tensed up a person can be when he/she has a negative attitude towards life? Don’t be like that. Be a person who thinks positively about everything in life. You will become more relaxed, remain calm and smile more than someone who is always looking on the bad side of life.

Not only does how and what you think and feel affect you, it also affects those around you. In short our mood affects our day. Developing and keeping a positive outlook is essential if you wish to lead a positive, fulfilling and happy life.

There are many ways in which you can develop a more positive outlook. You can start by changing how you think and feel about many situations that you encounter daily. It may take some time changing your attitude from negative to positive but eventually the new outlook will become second nature to you.

Here are the 4 key points to remember when changing your outlook are

1. Think only positive thoughts and practice this on a daily basis.

You should set your mind on completing one task at a time and think only of a positive outcome. Think about how good you will feel when you have completed the task. Never give in to doubt and let yourself believe that you have taken too much on and just keep going.

2. Don’t let your conversations turn negative

When in a conversation it is easy to let others discourage you, particularly if they have a negative outlook on life. Don’t be tempted to fall back into your old ways. Always turn negative talk into positive talk and look for the good in everything and any situation.

3. Look for the positive in those around you and point it out because only by doing this can can encourage a positive attitude all around you.

Whatever you are doing in your day-to-day life always look for the good in it. It may be a boring task which you usually hate doing and one which leaves you feeling negatively, try to find something good about it, anyway.

4. Never let yourself become distracted or hoodwinked into going back to negativity

Guard your thoughts. It takes time to change the way you feel and think. If you have been down on yourself and the world for a long time then your new outlook will take a while to register and stay around.

You will find over time that you can change many areas of your life just by changing your outlook from negative to a more positive one. Your self-esteem will magically improve, you become more popular, you feel happier and are more confident than before.

You are able to tackle the tasks you once hated. Your relationships improve. These are just a few of the areas where you can self-improve and gain a more positive outlook and thus lead a more positive life.

5. Laugh because laughter is the best medicine.

Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. Or join your neighborhood laughter club if there is one. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you.

6. Show your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you.

They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

7. Work hard and smart as it brings tremendous personal satisfaction.

It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time.

8. Learn. Everything. Learning and discovering new things is a joyful exercise.

Try and learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future. Learning opens up our mind and keep us alive. There is so much to learn and so little time. So make the best use of your time and learn something new everyday.

9. Exercise. Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for.

Exercises make you feel alive and happy. When you exercise, your body emits a certain hormone that can be described as a “happiness hormone” - it makes you feel totally relaxed and happy. And it’s free. Try it.

10. Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places.

Negative noises can give you bad vibes and it is vibration that make us all. We are made of energy, all of us. This has been demonstrated by quantum physics. But what is energy? It is vibration. So get good vibes like relaxing music not loud noises and such.

There you have it, the 10 simple things you can do everyday to be happy. Always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln : “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’, so says Bobby McFerrin. I’m sure you have heard of this famous song. If not, you are too young to read this blog! Anyway, the Bobby McFerrin song is one of my favorites as it is able to convey a simple message of being happy.

Being happy is good for your health. On the other hand worrying only make things worse. Worry never get anything done for you.

“Every life we have some trouble, when you worry you make it double”
“Landlord says your rent is late, he may have to litigate, don’t worry, be happy”

Actually, to be happy is easy, just decide to be a happy, period. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

In case you don’t already know, there are several ways to make yourself happy. Here are the first 4 ways :-

1.Show gratitude and be grateful for whatever you have. To be thankful can really make you happy, try it.

We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the cab driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the postman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

2. Cut off the news or at least get less of it.

News are mostly negative and affect your mood without you knowing it. It is a slow poison yet most people just can’t start their day without their daily dose of news. Correct this bad habit and if you must read the news, choose only good news. There is nothing you can do about the bad ones so why bother?

3. A religious connection can help you happy.

It is about people connection. Being part of a religious group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations foster inner peace.

4. Manage your time well.

Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.
